Child Health Nurse
Join our dynamic Primary Health team as a Child Health Nurse. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive, trauma-informed, and culturally safe Child Health and Development Checks (CHDCs) for children aged birth to 5 years. You will support early identification of health and developmental concerns, provide tailored advice and referrals, and contribute to improved outcomes for children and families, especially in priority cohorts including Aboriginal, CALD, and regional communities.
Key Responsibilities: - Perform comprehensive Child Health Development Checks adhering to the South Australian Blue Book.
- Conduct physical health assessments and developmental screenings.
- Provide tailored advice to caregivers and coordinate referrals.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Ensure compliance with child health nursing standards and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current unrestricted Division 1 AHPRA registration.
- Postgraduate qualification in child and family health or equivalent (or working towards one).
- Minimum 1 year experience with children aged birth to 5 years.
- Experience in rural communities and work with Aboriginal and/or CALD communities is desirable.
Skills Required:
- Proficient use of evidence-based child development screening tools.
- Strong communication and cultural competence, particularly with Aboriginal and CALD families.
- Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
- Proficient computer skills, including electronic medical record systems.
Special Conditions:
- Some out-of-hours work may be required with applicable penalty rates.
- Pre-employment checks including a Working with Children Check required.
